This week we are taking a break from our DIY projects to attend the DIY blogger conference called the Haven Conference. The conference this year is held in Charleston, SC--which is actually where we are located so it works out perfectly! We're super excited to mingle with other DIY bloggers and absorb all the fun energy from so many creatives being in one space. It will basically be a HUGE gathering of fellow Makers which is obviously right up our ally!
The 3 day conference is held July 12-July 14th and is sponsored by The Home Depot and is a perfect blend of influencers, bloggers and sponsors. The conference consists of an exhibtion area where sponsors and brands have booths set up, keynote speakers and live demonstraitions/DIYs will be going on throughout the weekend. In addition to all this, they have a schedule full of classes on topics like how to take awesome pictures with your DSLR and how to use Instastories to boost your brand. So many good classes--my only problem is I won't have time to attend them all!!
Whenever I go to conferences like this I like to identify a couple of goals (and I make sure these are goal and not necessarily expectations) and scope out who else will be there.
The goals I have for Haven Conference are:
Network with other DIY bloggers and get to know as many people as I can
Learn how people plan out there Instagram content--I try to keep mine organic and natural but it's also good to plan too!
How are people using videos on Facebook versus Instagram?
Some Makers that I would love to meet are:
Alisa Meredith: She is a content marketing and Pinterest Guru and will be hosting a session on how to leverage Pinterest to drive more traffic to you blog and capture more leads. She also currently works for Tailwind which is a great social media scheduler.
Corey with Sawdust 2 Stiches: She makes DIY projects that involve power tools look super easy and I'm not going to lie--saws still scare me! ha. I'm excited to hear about her story and the inspiration for her projects.
Rachel Paxton: Her photography is amazing (just check out her Insta) and so I'm excited for the class she's teaching on how to take better pictures with your DSLR.
Erin Kern: She has one of the BEST farmhouse/ shabby chic/ modern farmhoustyle styles. Her whole Instagram is a white wash explosion of interior design inspiration and I'm excited to hear her speak about the power of Instastories!
Well, it's time to get ready to head to the conference--we will be sure to report back after and let you know how it went. If you're going-- please make sure to say hello! :)
